My client specialises in the specification, installation and maintenance of all types of commercial doors, door hardware and automation, access control systems, and window winding equipment, including steel security doors, steel flood doors, aluminium doors, windows and entrances, automated doors, and access control systems including Paxton Net2. They work with local authorities and commercial organisations to provide both planned and unplanned door maintenance on buildings such as schools and universities, council properties, industrial units, commercial buildings, and utility company premises.
They are now looking for a further 2 experienced Service Engineers to join their team on a full-time basis.
Job Role & Responsibilities
- Carrying out both planned work and reactive maintenance/call-outs
- Working on own initiative with support from office staff where required as well as part of a team on larger jobs
- Fault finding and diagnosis along with advising customers of potential faults and how these can be rectified
- Ensuring work is carried out to a high standard
- Providing high standard of customer service/interface at all times
- Work will involve all types of manual and auto doors including commercial windows, fitting of steel doors, aluminium doors and timber doors as well as maintenance and repair works including glazing
- Site work installing new steel doors throughout the south of the UK
- Ensuring your vehicle is kept clean and presentable and stocked up with parts
- Managing the allocated workload on a daily basis
- Covering call-outs as and when required in conjunction with office instructions
- Completing job sheets and obtaining signatures on completion of works on a daily basis
- Attendance at the annual stock count (one Saturday a year)
- Any other duties that you may reasonably be requested to do from time to time.
Job Requirements/Person Specification
- Automatic Door Engineer or Commercial Door Engineer would be the perfect candidate, but any strong service engineering experience with the right aptitude and attitude will be considered
- Locks, door closers and access control would be a desirable additional skill
- Commercial Roller shutter experience would be desirable
- Must be capable of manual work, lifting and physical duties
- CSCS, PASMA and IPAF qualifications would be an advantage although full training will be provided as required
- A full driving licence is essential and the position is subject to a criminal records check
- You will also be required to clear a DBS check as you will be working in schools and colleges/universities
- Must be flexible and willing to work (additionally paid) overtime if required
- Self-sufficient, bags of initiative, and able to plan your day to maximise efficiency
- Live within an easily commutable distance of Reading as each day starts from the office at 8am
