Instructional & Curriculum Designer/Learning Content Developer, Frimley GU16, £35k to £43k pa DOE + benefits + free parking

My client is a leading manufacturer of heavy materials handling equipment. An opportunity has arisen within the Commercial Training Team for a Curriculum & Instructional Designer/Learning Content Developer, reporting to the Director of Commercial Training.

Key accountabilities of the role are:

  • Work with the Director of Commercial Training and the Senior Curriculum Designer to develop the learning content strategy, and design and deliver that content by producing curricula/learning programs for both a classroom and e-learning setting
  • Undertake training needs and content reviews, and present and design content solutions
  • Curate product-focused content that has the potential to be next generational, interactive and engaging, and is presented in a storyboard style so that it “sells” said products
  • Ensure content remains current and updated (planned into the content strategy)
  • Lead on the development of online learning journeys for our Dealer sales force
  • Design learning content using various content platform e.g. captivate, 360 articulate (see below)
  • Implement training materials into the training portfolio and catalogues where appropriate and roll out to the relevant audiences to improve adoption
  • Work closely with different areas of the business including Industry Solutions, Product Managers, Marketing and the Dealer network
  • Continuous improvement around content management process

Experience/Education/Skills requirements:

  • Experienced, confident, enthusiastic creative e-Learning developer (3+ years solid development)
  • Happy to be primarily developing e-Learning for the next 2 years
  • Core technical skills: Articulate Storyline 3/360, Adobe Captivate, MS PowerPoint, Articulate Rise, HTML5 – ideally with animation and gamification skills
  • Must have good creative (ad-hoc) design skills with first-class attention to detail
  • Works well within a team and does not need ‘hand holding’
  • Basic instructional design and storyboarding knowledge (can be further taught on-the-job)
  • A degree in relevant discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience of developing classroom materials as well as online learning materials
  • Previous experience with design practices, online learning management systems and be able to apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • A European language would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Desirable technical skills:
    • SQL Database
    • VB Script
    • Basic knowledge of CSS (Contact Style Sheet)
    • Playbooks
    • Designing training for a sales organisation

  • This role is paying a salary of between £35k and £43k pa depending on experience.
